Our instructors:
Jeff DaRosa: During his main gig as a member of the Dropkick Murphys, Jeff plays mandolin, banjo, bouzouki, whistle, acoustic guitar, keyboard, and sings (too!). A local boy, Jeff grew up in Watertown and Somerville. If the Dropkick Murphys aren’t on the road, Jeff will be shipping up to the Boston Rock Academy.
Skip Fisher: Skip Fisher is an exciting, explosive, relentless drummer who has played with such legends as Chuck Berry, Bo Diddley, Alex Taylor (with Dan Aykroyd), James Montgomery, and Matt “Guitar” Murphy, just to name a few. He is also a very in-demand session player-producer, being the house drummer-producer at Black Cat Crossing Studios in Harvard, MA. Combining the influences of Buddy Rich, Dave Garibaldi (Tower of Power), Keith Moon, Mitch Mitchell, and Kenny Aronoff (to name a few), Skip is equally adept at blues, jazz, funk, latin, and rock, laying down a powerhouse groove while coloring the music in a very unique way. In the words of Wolfgang Winter, writing for the Badische Neueste Nachrichten, Fautenbach, Germany, “Skip Fisher is an outstanding drummer….truly a genius on the drums.”
Mike Tucker: As a musician, Mike Tucker is difficult to pin down. He plays drums for The Big Big Bucks, a Boston based rock band and can be found playing in the pit for The Fudge Theater Co. along with other local theater groups. He plays with local singer/songwriter Justin Shorey, and spends his afternoons transcribing guys like Jimmy Cobb, Art Taylor and Roy Haynes. As a kid, Mike learned the basics of drumming as taught by Keith Moon, John Bonham, Dave Grohl and Tre’ Cool, playing along to classics like “Tommy” at night in his parents basement. The Bucks are finishing their first record, buying a van and hitting the road early next year. Mike is a graduate of the Berklee College of Music, and you’ll find him sharing his passion for music at the Boston Rock Academy.
